  • Welcome to Parkside Elementary School. Our staff, students, PTA, and families work together as a learning community to assure that every child is successful. Please feel free to stop in and visit us.
Parkside School believes in the importance of forming a strong partnership with parents and community members in order to positively impact the students in our school.  To promote effective parent involvement, the staff works together collaboratively with one another and welcomes and encourages parents and community members to join us in the educational program.
The Parkside Elementary School faculty and staff believe that all students can grow intellectually, personally, socially, and physically.  We believe that each of these dimensions is equally important to the total well being of the individual.  It is our goal to focus attention on each of these areas and for faculty and staff to participate in meaningful job embedded staff development in order for every student to become a responsible and productive citizen.

  • Chess/Backgammon Club

The afterschool Chess/Backgammon Club meets every Friday, up to March 17.  The club is for fourth and fifth grade students who have parental permission to remain after school and who are willing to commit to the seriousness of this strategic challenge.  The rules of the club are simple:  have fun, make good friends, play to win and play with sportsmanship!  The club will meet from 3:15-5:00pm.  In March, we will evaluate the commitment shown by the participants and determine the possiblity of continuing the program.

In the event that school closes early due to weather, the after school program will not be held.  Should ACPS cancel all evening activities due to impending weather, the program will NOT held and students will dismiss according to their normal routine.
