Summer School Programs
Elementary Summer Schools
We're excited to offer an in-person summer learning program for targeted students currently enrolled in Allegany County Public Schools. Students will be invited by their school principal based on academic need. It's a wonderful opportunity for your child to extend their learning and build readiness for the next grade level in the 2026–2027 school year. Below you'll find detailed information about the program.
When: June 15 – June 30, Monday through Thursday each week (no school Tuesday, June 23)
Time: 7:30 – 11:30 a.m. (depending on the school's bus schedule)

Middle School Summer School
The middle school summer program offers additional instruction in Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA, and Physical Education. To enroll, parents should contact their student's school counselor.
When: June 15–18, and June 22, 24, 25, and 29
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (breakfast and lunch provided)
Location: Allegany High School (transportation provided)
Extended Senior Summer Schools
Extended Senior School is available to current seniors who are 1–3 credits short of graduation requirements. Students can continue coursework at their home school to earn these credits and participate in the Summer 2026 graduation ceremony. There is no cost to students. For details, please contact your school counselor.
Credit Recovery
The Credit Recovery Program helps students make progress toward graduation by recovering credits for courses previously attempted without a passing grade. It runs throughout the school year, with an additional opportunity in the summer.
Eligibility:

- A final grade of 50–59% qualifies for Standard Credit Recovery.
- A final grade of 40–49% qualifies for Extended Credit Recovery.
- A final grade below 40% does not meet the minimum mastery threshold; the course must be retaken.
Requirements:

- Students complete all assignments on Apex and receive the grade earned upon completion.
- Attendance is mandatory. Students are removed after 3 absences.
- Students may register for 2 courses. If they finish before the halfway point, they may register for additional failed courses—there's no limit on what can be completed within the 20 days.
- Register through your school counselor.
When: June 22 – July 28, Monday – Thursday, for 20 days (no school June 23 and July 6)
Where: All three high schools
Provided: Transportation for bus students, plus breakfast and lunch

Original Credit
Open to all ACPS students entering grades 9–12 in the 2026–2027 school year who are taking these courses for the first time. Available courses: Physical Education, Art Appreciation, Foundations of Technology, Health II, and Personal Financial Literacy.
