Students Inducted into Spanish, Art, Social Studies, and Science Honor Societies

CUMBERLAND, Md. — March 19, 2026 — Fort Hill High School proudly celebrated academic excellence, leadership and service during an Honor Society Induction Ceremony held on Tuesday, March 10. The ceremony recognized students from four organizations: Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honor Society), the National Art Honor Society, the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. It honored the achievements of 68 newly inducted members and recognized 48 graduating seniors.

Membership in these honor societies represents more than academic success. Students selected for induction have distinguished themselves through a combination of strong academic performance, leadership within the school community, a commitment to service, and a passion for their respective fields of study.

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica inducted 14 new members: Devin Bowser, Henry Crawford, Bao Doan, Camdyn Dudley, Brayden Emerick, Lakyn Farris, Sadie Hamilton, Caden Knippenberg, Jaxon LaRue, Olivia Nelson, Adalyn Rice, Kylee Rice, Kyona Simpson, and Wil Turner. There were 24 senior members who were also recognized and graduating with honors including Myleigh Anderson, Ella Bennett, Skylar Bennett, Miley Boyer, Clarice Chiza, Ashlynn Cramer, Molly Dixon, Nakiah Dunn, Braileigh Fisher, Morgan Giffin, Cameron Hook, Kiera Lindsay, Alice Nelson, Danny Nguyen, Victoria Pawliske, Gabriella Robertson, Jordin Russ, Briley Shoemaker, Kai Shreve, Aubriauna Spangler, Makinlie Thomas, Jacob Twigg, Brynnan Wigger, and Chloe Williams.

Senior Gabriella Robertson was recognized for earning the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, an honor awarded to students who demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, and listen in both English and Spanish.

National Art Honor Society inducted 21 new members: Gabriella Beck, Alina Benson, Devin Bowser, Adalyn Davis, Joshua Dixon, Jayden Foote, Isabella Harbaugh, Parker Helmick, Brayla Iser, Brooklyn Miller, Gracelynn Mundy, Fynnlea O’Rourke, Anna Ranker, Gabriel Simmons, Cameron Strawderman, Ryleigh Taylor, Payton Vandergrift, Tram Vo, Breanna Warden, Mackenzie Welch, and Josie Wolfe. The society recognized 18 graduating seniors who are graduating with honors including Zaafirah Ahmed, Myleigh Anderson, Jacob Bone, Hannah Cole, Kaiden Cole, Jentzen Fetters, Baelee Hanson, Daniel Hewlin, Callie Hoffman, Cameron Hughes, Alexis Litten, Alexis McKee, Makeem Montague, Amelia Pannone, Caydence Phillips, Kai Shreve, Kya Simpson, and Elizabeth Torrez.

Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society inducted 36 new members: Iyyat Ahmed, Alina Benson, Isabella Bond, Devin Bowser, Briana Ciccarelli, Henry Crawford, Will Duckworth, Camdyn Dudley, Brayden Emerick, Lakyn Farris, Brandon Grabenstein, Sadie Hamilton, Isabella Harbaugh, Julia Jackson, Addison Kegg, Caden Knippenberg, Skylar LaRue, Jaxon LaRue, Karena Liller, Micaela Mattocks, Haley Metz, Brooklyn Miller, Caleb Morrison, Cadence Neff, Olivia Nelson, Hunter Nyland, Brady O’Neal, Victoria Pawliske, Adalyn Rice, Jemma Stafford, Angela Suter, Rowan Sweitzer, Wil Turner, Summer Welsh, Caitlyn Willison, and Makenna Wolf. Members of the four honor societies wish to express their gratitude to the advisors who guide their organizations, the teachers who inspire their academic pursuits, and the families and community members whose encouragement supports their success.

Allegany County Board of Education Members Lori Lepley and Linda Widmyer, Superintendent Michael J. Martirano and district program supervisors joined Fort Hill Principal Candy Canan, teachers, and members of the school’s administration for the ceremony.
