Positive Reinforcement Programming

We Have Sentinel PRIDE!

Fort Hill High School is committed to creating a positive, supportive, and successful learning environment for every student. As part of our school-wide discipline and student support efforts, we utilize PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).

PBIS is a proactive approach that focuses on teaching, recognizing, and reinforcing positive behaviors. Students receive support in developing the skills they need to meet our school-wide expectations while being recognized for demonstrating those expectations throughout the school day.

Our five school-wide expectations are:

P — Preparation

Be ready to learn and prepared for success.

R — Respect

Treat yourself, others, and our school community with respect.

I — Integrity

Do the right thing, even when no one is watching.

D — Diligence

Give your best effort and persevere through challenges.

E — Empathy

Show understanding, kindness, and consideration toward others.

Just as students receive direct instruction in academic subjects, they will also receive instruction and guidance on the behaviors expected in different school settings, including classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, and other areas of the school.

Students may be recognized for demonstrating PRIDE expectations anywhere on school grounds.

PBIS Mission

The mission of the Fort Hill High School PBIS program is to create a positive learning environment where students can achieve individual excellence and success by consistently demonstrating our PRIDE expectations.

Positive Office Referrals

Positive Office Referrals provide teachers with an opportunity to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional behavior, effort, or character.

Teachers will receive a link from administration to submit a Positive Office Referral. Once a referral is submitted:

  1. A certificate recognizing the student will be created.
  2. An administrator will contact the student's parent or guardian.
  3. The administrator will share the positive behavior highlighted by the teacher.

Teachers are encouraged to use Positive Office Referrals to recognize and reinforce the behaviors we want to see throughout our school community.

Every positive action matters—and every student deserves to be recognized for doing things right.

STARS Program

The STARS Program is another way Fort Hill High School recognizes students who demonstrate excellence, improvement, and our PBIS expectations.

Teachers nominate students who have:

  • Demonstrated outstanding classroom performance
  • Made significant improvements in their academic performance
  • Consistently demonstrated our PRIDE expectations

Students selected for the STARS Program are recognized at a special STARS Breakfast, where their parents or guardians are invited to celebrate their accomplishments.

The STARS Breakfast is held twice each school year, typically in the middle of the fall semester and again in early spring.
