2025–2026 Virtual Learning FAQ & Schedules
Under Senate Bill 610, ACPS must first use its three built-in severe weather days (also called snow days) before switching to virtual learning. On those three days, students and teachers are off, and the days are made up at the end of the school year. If additional closures are needed, ACPS moves to virtual learning through Schoology to keep students on track—and participating in a Virtual Learning Day counts toward student attendance.
How do Virtual Learning Days work?
Students log into Schoology for synchronous (live) learning. A virtual school day consists of at least four hours of synchronous instruction, with the afternoon set aside for asynchronous activities designed to take advantage of online instruction
What are the two schedule types?

- Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days — The decision to close is made at 5:30 a.m. Middle and high school students log into Schoology at 8:00 a.m.; elementary students log in at 8:30 a.m.
- Delay to Closure Virtual Learning Days — The decision to close is made at 7:30 a.m. All students log into Schoology at 8:30 a.m.
What if my student doesn't have internet access?
Students without connectivity have up to two days following a closure to submit assignments and still be counted present for class.
How can I help my student on Virtual Learning Days?

- Make sure they log into Schoology on time to participate.
- Check that they're completing their asynchronous learning activities.
- Ask them to describe their Virtual Learning school day.
