Allegany County Public Schools are now part of the WestMac - Western Maryland Athletic Conference. The schools in this conference include Fort Hill, Allegany, Mountain Ridge, Southern and Northern. There are 12 varsity interscholastic sports offered in Allegany County: (fall) cross country, football, golf, soccer, volleyball; (winter) basketball, bowling, wrestling; (spring) baseball, outdoor track, softball, tennis. Unified Sports are now part of Allegany County.  We offer Unified Tennis, Unified Track, and Bocce as part of the ACPS Corollary Athletics programming.

Athletics Livestream Information

Subscribers can watch the livestreamed ACPS athletics events through the NFHS Network!

Allegany County Public Schools will live stream all junior varsity and varsity football, soccer, and volleyball games through the National Federation of State High School (NFHS) Associations beginning with the Mountain Ridge at Allegany varsity football game on Friday, March 5, 2021. The NFHS Network is the leader in streaming live and On Demand high school sports.

The NFHS Network covers 27 different regular season and postseason sports, as well as other high school activities, highlighting the accomplishments of student-athletes, student broadcasters, and high schools across the country. The NFHS Network is a joint venture created to provide fans with the ability to stream high school sports on any device from wherever they are.

All NFHS Network events are available to watch online at www.NFHSnetwork.com and through the NFHS Network Mobile Apps for iOS and Android and on TV Apps for ROKU, Amazon Fire, and Apple TV.

To subscribe to watch ACPS sporting events, visit https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/subscribe/retail. Please note that the cost of a subscription is $10.99 per month for access to ALL high school events that are streamed through NFHS, not just ACPS athletic events. Additionally, any delayed broadcast of ACPS games that has been accessible in the past will continue to be available to the public.

Coaching Information

ATTENTION ALL COACHES...You must complete the Concussion in Sports training and renew it every 2 years. This is FREE!

  1. Visit https://nfhslearn.com/courses/61064/concussion-in-sports to take the training.
  2. Turn your completion certificate in to your Athletic Director.
  3. How to become a Credentialed Interscholastic Coach!

All Coaches that do not hold a teaching certificate must become Credentialed Coaches. To accomplish this, all coaches that do not hold a teaching certificate must:

  • Complete the One-Credit Course in the Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries. This course includes but is not limited to: Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Sport-Specific Rules. Coaches must also be re-certified yearly in CPR/AED training. Your Athletic Director will coordinate trainings each year with our BLS Instructor.
  • Possess an MPSSAA/MSDE Coach Certification, which means completion of the NFHS Level 1 Coaching Certification or MSDE Approved In-Service Coaching Education Program prior to the start of his or her fourth year as a coach. This certification consists of two (2) online courses: “Fundamentals of Coaching” and a “Sports Specific” course. Please check with your Athletic Director for which course you should choose.

Directions for taking the NFHS Online Courses:

  1. Go to http://nfhslearn.com/
  2. Register or Sign-In
  3. Click “Courses” on the top toolbar and from the drop down list; choose “Fundamentals of Coaching” or “Sport-Specific Courses” and then choose your sport. If your sport is not listed, you can just pick one that is available.
  4. Click on “Purchase Now.”
  5. Choose the option “I am purchasing a course for myself” and “Continue.”
  6. Choose “Maryland” from the drop down list and click “Save.”
  7. The cost for the Fundamentals of Coaching course will be $35 and $50 for the Sports Specific course.
  8. Continue “Checkout” and enter your credit card information. There will be a link on your receipt that you click to take the courses.
  9. Congratulations! After successful completion of each course, you will be able to print out a Certificate of Completion. Please remember to submit a copy of your certificate to the Athletics Department to be kept on file.
